Day 5

Day 5: Written by Lorain Dalton

Oh God please hear my prayers, Thank you for keeping us safe please help me down this mountain. Give me strength not to let the others down.

One step at a time.

I woke up glad to have reached the last day  and God kept us safe.

Knowing what goes up must come down.

We are so high up we are higher than most of the other mountains.

At least I am going home, how hard can it be.

I do not know how I got down, Gavin actually came back and took my back pack while we went down the Organ Pipes. I took it back when I felt I could manage I was many times more on my bum than walking like the rest of them. I slipped and talked to God help me Lord.

Belinda walked with me for a while and showed me how to walk across slippery dangerous part. Also telling me to open my legs wider and keep my feet on the grass because its not so slippery.

When I cross a dangerous part she told me not to think and just keep walking not to let my body go close to the mountain as this makes you feet slip.

Every little bit of kindness helped.

God planted flowers every now and again to remind me he was there.

And every hour that passed I was getting lower. I could not talk to the others as tears kept falling form my eyes. And all my strength was going on getting down.

I not sure where Gavin took the back pack and again it was a simple kind of kindness that helped me carry on.

I was not so unsure of my footing. Thank you Colin and Gavin for your kindness there.I think they took turns carrying it.

Some where down the mountain Belinda had sent a guide up to take my bag at first I would not give it to him. I heard Vivien saying she just being stubborn and I was.

So I passed him the bag. Another God send.

Closes to the bottom where there is just walks, the girls closed ranks and we chatted, the ordeal for me was over, we laughed and joked knowing that we had made it.

Vivien and Michelle still had to carry there back packs God know how they did it. Actually it was just stubbornness, but you have to take your hats off to them.

Lower and lower we share an Orange maybe 100 meters up not wanting to rush because Michelle and Vivien husbands wanted to be there when we arrived.

We were happy smiling. Can you believe we thought we had finished but they was still more climbing to do.

We saw other people we told them who we were, they had heard about us on the radio. Celebrity status at last we got to to Hotel and Paul and Gus pulled up with they car exactly on time another miracle we were back. Thank God

We walked to Belinda homestead Every one was there and elated.

I was elated I was down. And I got a cup of TEA.
